When you look in the mirror in the morning and the skin won’t move out of your eyes you may be ready for a blepharoplasty. In the Sacramento, Roseville, Folsom, El Dorado Hills area we see many people with excess skin around the eyes that interferes with vision and the ability to apply sun screen or eye shadow. At Chrysalis Cosmetics in Sacramento, Dr Charles Perry performs blepharoplasty to help you regain the crispness of the eyelids and shape the brows and cheeks if you’d like. For some people laser skin resurfacing provides all the tightening around the eyes that is needed and for others laser combined with a blepharoplasty will be needed to create the look you desire.
Blepharoplasty involves sculpting of the excess skin, muscle, and fat around the eyes and can be done with you awake or asleep. The procedure often takes a little more than hour or two depending upon the techniques required to create the look you’d like. If sutures are required they can be removed at the next office visit a week later. It is really exciting to look at photos from before the procedure and after the procedure at three months. Sometimes complete healing takes a year, however most people are back to work in a week or two. Certainly cover can be used to help conceal the initial bruising or swelling that can arise.
One of the exciting new advances with blepharoplasty is the combination of fillers and Botox either before or after to enhance and preserve the look. Latisse, a product that promotes the growth of thicker darker longer lashes can also make the eyes pop as well and are a great addition to the procedure. The combination of fillers such as Juvederm and the Chemodenervation of Dysport or Botox can really enhance the look even more. We are also seeing more and more people have a laser skin resurfacing instead of the blepharoplasty or blepharoplasty revision. For many the laser tightens the loose skin and strengthens the dermis and provides a nice enhancement, however for some the excess loose muscle and fat as well as the loose supportive structures require some tightening and a blepharoplasty with a canthoplasty or canthopexy may be required to enhance the look in a natural way.
