By harnessing the innovative power of light-based therapies, it is possible to improve skin tone, texture, and quality with minimal downtime and recovery. Broadband light (BBL™), also known as PhotoFacial and IPL, can be used to enhance the skin’s appearance by focusing specific wavelengths of light onto the area of concern. Dr. Charles Perry, a leading Sacramento plastic surgeon, uses this technique to give patients a non-surgical option for rejuvenating the skin and addressing a number of common conditions that can be a source of dissatisfaction for both men and women.

What Is BBL™ Forever Young® PhotoFacial?

BBL™ stands for broadband light. It’s another term for IPL (intense pulsed light), phototherapy, and PhotoFacial. All of these names refer to light-based therapy that uses specific wavelengths of light to achieve a specific goal, often improving the skin in some way. The procedure is customized to best suit the patient and their individual skin concerns. In most cases, multiple treatment sessions will be necessary to fully address the issue, which usually can be determined during the initial consultation.

What Concerns Can BBL™ Forever Young® PhotoFacial Treat?

BBL™ can be used to address common signs of aging as well as a number of conditions that may cause unwanted pigmentation of the skin. Some of the concerns IPL can address include:

If you would like to diminish the appearance of one or more of these issues, Dr. Perry and our skilled medical team can help. Talk to us today about your goals and together we will find a suitable solution.

What Is the BBL™ Forever Young® PhotoFacial Treatment Like?

After tailoring a procedure to meet your needs, the handheld appliance will be drawn lightly across your skin, delivering the light into the targeted area under the cooling crystal. The light heats the pigment in your skin and breaks it up, allowing your body to remove the pigment through normal metabolic processes. This approach to treatment is why patients with darker skin tones may not be ideal candidates for treatment. Individuals with light to medium skin can usually benefit, however. The length of treatment will depend on the size of the area being treated and the nature of your concern, but typically lasts between 10 minutes and an hour. After the procedure, you should be able to return home and to your normal activities. Some minor redness and swelling is to be expected, and these effects should fade swiftly.

BBL™ can be used on a multitude of areas, including the face, neck, décolletage, hands, arms, back, legs, and body.

How Much Does BBL™ Forever Young® PhotoFacial Cost?

The cost of IPL treatment will vary from patient to patient depending on the number of sessions needed, the complexity of the treatment, and the size of the area being addressed. We will go over the cost of your BBL™ program during your initial visit, providing a detailed breakdown of estimated fees to provide a helpful resource.
